I DID IT!

2012 Goal: Make Homemade Rolls.

It may seem silly to you wonderful cooks out there, but for me it was not. I have tried many times to make homemade rolls. But each time my hopes of producing the perfect roll was diminished as the yeast did not bubble and the dough did not rise :( You know it's time to try, again when two are asked to bring rolls to a party. You bring store bought and the other person bring homemade. At the end of the evening the bag of rolls you brought is now going home with you!

So on Sunday afternoon I got a wild hair and said " now is the time to try again". I got on pinterest... searched for "rolls" and up popped several recipes. This one caught my attention and the "adventure" began.

This was the outcome!

Beautiful, yummy, delicious rolls!

Now the question????

Can I do it again?

If not... at least I can say I did it once!

It's been a few years since they got 1 let alone 2.

Looking forward to a great fall season...

And then everything changed...

Wounded Team-mates...Kelli and Megan

On Wed. October 12...while at practice...Megan dove for a ball in the outfield, caught it, came down and a shot of pain came over her left shoulder. She knew at that moment that it was not good. Once the trainer got to her she was able to roll over and begin to sit up... it popped back into place.

YES...it was a DISLOCATION.

It was determined that she would need surgery to repair the damage. 1 week later on Thurs. October 20, Megan was greeted by the "Dream Team" Dr Pepper, othopeadic surgeon along with Dr Larsen, anesthesiolgist to put her back together. After a 1 hour surgery, 180 degree tear and 5 anchors she was now beginning her 4 month recovery. 4 weeks in a sling and afterwards physical therapy for 10 weeks. It was discovered that she had what is called a "Buford Complex". A deformity in the labram. Thanks to Dr Pepper for knowing how to treat and repair this properly. She is one tough cookie! Our "one armed" Megan was back to school on Monday and back to her apartment on her own on Thursday. I think that was harder on "Mom" than on Megan. But, she proving just how tough and committed she is to doing it on her own and being patient with the process so that she can get back on the field.

Balloons, Dairy Queen Blizzard (hot fudge & oreo), and BBF Jac were great medicine!

The smile lasted for a day in a half and then once the block wore completely off the smile went away for a couple of days :(

She is back to smiling!

There were many blessings and tender mercies that took place during this whole process. It is apparent to the Peay family that the Lord is mindful and he is in charge. Wonderful people have been put in our path to help Megan get the quick attention she needed to get her back on track.

Highlights..

*Waking up the first morning to find 5 broken egg shells sitting on the ground in front of the cool. The theif was...a Racoon. He had opened the cooler lifted the edge of the eggs container and stole 5 eggs. Nothing else was touched and the cooler was closed as though no one had been in it. It was amazing! No mess in the cooler, just shells on the ground. They are sneaky! Coolers will now be kept the car at night.

*The second night around 2am...we heard noise, like a bin being dragged. Kevin and Josh jumped up and dicovered 2 racoons trying to escape with one of the bins. We showed them...and put it in the car.

*Then upon returning to camp after a successful fishing venture around 9pm (it was now dark)...we found 2 racoons on the tables of our campsite ready to dive into the brownies and other things we had left out while gone...they were back and brought friends! After throwing a few rocks and hissing a bit...they finally left. That was the final straw...now everything goes in the cars at night and note to self...always put things away when you're leaving camp, you never know what unannounced guests you will find when you return.

We had a wonderful time with our Kids and extended family. Peay Family Rocks!

Afterwards we gathered at G Jones for popsicles. Then headed to watch the fireworks....which were awesome and lasted 35 minutes.

What should be do today? Answer: Let's go to the canyon for a horse ride. OK...let's do it!

So we loaded the car and off we headed to pick up the horse trailer, 3 horses and up AF Canyon for an afternoon of adventure.

Although this was a Softball Tourn. in Irvine,CA we found a way to have fun shopping, eating, beaching in between games. The girls went 2-2-1 in pool play. Megan pitched a no hitter/shut out with 11 KO's for the win 10-0 against So Cal Rebels. We had perfect weather 70-75. We finished on Saturday after 2 bracket losses and began the journey home. We stopped in St George for the night at Don/Sharron "Cottage".

Next "Sting" stop... Illinois for Nationals.

It has been a blessing to serve with these most amazing and wonderful friends.

Our last Sunday at the U of U Institute Bldg where we have attended our Sunday meetings for the past
2 3/4 years.

We have stood in Holy Places...

with Sister Elaine S. Dalton, General Young Women's President, as she spoke to our ward in the Bountiful Temple, Martins Cove..."The Rescue Party" super activity...pulled handcarts and spent quiet and spiritual time in the "COVE" where the saints took refuge and many died trying to get to the Salt Lake Valley, General Relief Society Building...Presidents Room...with Sister Elaine S Dalton where is presented the women with "Gold Bracelets" and the men with "Gold Ties".

We were invited to "Come Unto Christ", complete the YW Virtue Value Experience along with reading the Book of Mormon in 3 months, Dare Mighty Things and the final challenge...to read the New Testament in 3 months ( I am on track to finish the day that Landon returns home from his mission).

Landon accepted a call to serve 2 years in the Michigan Detroit Mission...he will return home June 1. Megan has attended Relief Society since she was 15...her and I have enjoyed our time together...we will miss driving past the Temple every week.

Kevin and I will cherish this time and opportunity that we have had to laugh together, cry together and serve together. We have been uplifted and edified by these wonderful Young Single Adults. Our testimonies have been strengthened, we have come to know our Savior in a more personal way and eternal friendships have been formed.

As this journey comes to an End we are grateful and will cherish every moment!

Today was a BIG day for JOSH...

He took his Radiology Boards and PASSED!

He will graduate on Friday with an Associates Degree from Weber State University.

Congratulations!

The second big event of the day was being honored at the Fruit Heights City Council Meeting tonight along with Bro. Lloyd for their lifesaving efforts on March 20, 2011. While in Sunday School, a ward member, Brother Passey had a heart attack. Josh jumped into action and began CPR until paramedics arrived. He then assisted until they had him stable and ready to transport. The efforts of these 2 men allowed Brother Passey to have 2 more days on this earth and spend time with his family.

U32 Homestead Retreat...

We had a super activity at the Homestead in Midway with our Young Single Adults.

The Bishopic all stayed a large home where we gathered as a ward. We also had 20 rooms at the Homestead where the YA's all stayed. We enjoy a fun friday night BBQing hambergers and hot dogs, served w/ chips, fruit, drinks and yummy dessert. Afterwards we had a program: Get to know the Bishopric and wives. Then "Let the Games begin" we played games galore that were going on in every part of the house. Kevin gave in at midnight, I caved in at 1am, Megan followed at about 1:30am and most everyone else kept going until 3am.

Breakfast was served at 8:30am...and YES "ALL" were up and ready to eat Mountain Man Breakfast Burrittos! Yummy!

After breakfast everyone broke into teams and then the digital scavenger hunt began. When time was up, we then gathered to see view each teams pictures. After compiling the scores a team winner was named.

It was a fun weekend. We laughed a lot and enjoyed getting to know each ward member as we did!

For those that completed the challenge met with Sister Elaine Dalton at the General Relief Society Building in the Presidents Room. We sat in a circle and shared thoughts and testimony with one another. What a blessing it was to be taught and uplifted by a such a worthy servant who has been chosen to lead the Young Women of the Church. This truly was a tender and sweet experience as we stood in a "Holy Place".

Sister Dalton presented the men with a "Gold tie" and the women with a "Gold bracelet". This is a day that we will never forget.

It was a wonderful day as Matt & Hayley were sealed together in the Salt Lake Temple. Although it was bitter cold outside...the sun was shining inside. The room was filled with family and friends that love and care for them. The luncheon was held at The Canterbury Place. Thank you Natalie for the beautiful table decorations. We enjoyed chicken fettichini, salad, rolls and cheesecake for dessert.

Wayne Golden Peay

1930 ~ 2010

After recently celebrating his 80th birthday and 60th wedding anniversary with his eternal sweetheart, Wayne Golden Peay, of Lindon passed away unexpectedly on October 19 after an accidental fall.

Wayne was born August 17, 1930 in Pleasant Grove to Golden Beal and Estella Johnson Peay. He lived in Pleasant Grove and Lindon his entire life. He married his eternal sweetheart, Geraldine Adamson on September 27, 1950 in the Salt Lake Temple.

Wayne served in the U. S. Army during the Korean conflict. After returning home, he worked for Utah Power & Light and retired after 38 years of service. Wayne and Geri served several missions for the LDS Church in Winter Quarters, Cove Fort, and 9 years at the Bishops Storehouse. He was a faithful and devoted member of the LDS Church, serving in many stake and ward callings throughout his life. One of his greatest joys was traveling with the Good Sam's Club where he made many life-long devoted friends. Wayne loved the gospel, his family and friends. He always had time to serve a friend or talk with a stranger who then became a new friend.

He loved to ride horses in American Fork Canyon, where he spent many years working for his grandfather when he was young. His greatest love and joy was his family including his 3 children, 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Each one had a personal relationship with him. He taught them correct principles and lived by them. He was always an example of love, faith, commitment and service and his life radiated the gospel of Jesus Christ.

He is survived by his eternal sweetheart Geraldine; his three children: Cheri Hansen, Lindon; Connie (Mike) Marchbanks, Lindon; and Kevin (Cindy) Peay, Centerville. He will especially be missed by his grandchildren and his great grandchildren who he adored.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 23 at 1:00 pm in the Lindon 5th Ward LDS chapel, 610 W 100 S, Lindon. Friends may call Friday evening from 6-8 pm at the Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 S. 300 E., Pleasant Grove and at the church on Saturday one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinmortuary.com.

Wayne Golden Peay is a man marked with truly unique talents and gifts. His greatest asset has been his love of my mother and his 3 children along with the far reaching impact he has had on the lives of others. Simple put, he loves people and has done everything in his power to serve them. He has been a true mentor, father, coach, and friend. He will be greatly missed!

Wayne Golden Peay passed October 19, 2010 at 7:20 pm with all us in the room due to complications of a fall / fainting spell on Monday. He hit his head on the cement which cracked his skull and caused severe trauma to the brain. Even after a 5 hour surgery, the damage was to far reaching that the bleeding to the brain would not stop. Eventually as you can imagine, it slowly shuts the body down. It took him 12 hrs after life support was removed, for this process to finish. The doctors told us it would be with in an hour or two at the most, but not for the tough 80 year old cowboy who lungs, heart and mind were so strong that it extended this process substantially. Needless to say, he never made it out of here alive, but he did make it out of here with honor, integrity, hard work and kindness! His legacy has been etched! His presence is forever felt! Our mother is in reasonable health, but as many of you know, this takes its toll emotionally and often physically on a lonely companion. In a blessing given to mother last night, she was strengthened to stand, lead and be supported as the Matriarch of the Peay family. I have faith and confidence that she will do so and be cradled and supported by my father and other angels and ancestors assigned to attend to us. Once again, thank you for your support, love and unwavering dedication to the CAUSE OF TRUTH!

At 1:00am in the morning Matt came to our room and said "all of Megan's tires are missing from her Jeep". What?! We jumped out of bed opened the front door and there they were...all 4 tires. We were scratching our heads...Wow! Really? Looked at the Jeep, looked at the tires on the porch, still confused and then rolled them in the garage and went back to bed. Every time we walked out the door the next day it just got funnier ... as the Jeep sat there with no wheels in the driveway. Made us laugh (a lot). Made us smile :) At 3:15pm the door bell rang...standing at the front door was Trent and a friend with a wrench in hand. "I'm here to put some tires back on the Jeep!"

A memory was made that night. This will forever be etched in our minds. It's a good thing Kevin really, really likes Trent!

It was a tender moment for us as we met and greeted him. He had no idea we would be there. The look on his face was priceless when he realized who we were. He couldn't stop smiling :)
