TREK-ING...

Let the "RESCUE PARTY" Begin...
U13, U32, U52 YSA Super Activity at MARTIN'S COVE.

On any summer evening in July hundreds of emigrants could be found swarming all over Independence Rock, chiseling messages to others following behind. Many of the emigrants arrived here on the fourth of July, and that was cause for celebration. Pies were baked and revelry was shared. On top of Independence Rock...

Martin's Cove
Distance: 993 miles from Nauvoo

Having started late from Iowa and suffered innumerable mishaps and miscalculations along the way, two handcart companies under the leadership of Captains Edward Martin and James G. Willie were caught in early snows here near the Continental Divide in 1856. One of the greatest tragedies in overland trail history, hundreds died of exposure and starvation before rescuers from the Salt Lake Valley brought them to this location a few miles west of Devil's Gate in early November.

In the "COVE"...

Three young, 18-year old men, Allen Huntington, George W. Grant, and David P. Kimball, volunteer to carry the weakened Saints across the river. When Brigham Young receives word of their feat, he weeps and says that their feat has assured them of celestial glory.

All for the LOVE of the Game!

Another high school season come and gone. It was a cold, rainy, snowy, windy season. Thanks to a heater, blankets, umbrellas, gloves, hats for keeping us warm. Megan just completed her Junior year as a pitcher and enjoyed a great softball season. She helped her team to a 2nd place finish in Region. Way to go girl!

A DAY AT THE LAKE...

PINEVIEW...
Love these kids...

This is to prove that Mom and Dad were there...

The "BabeLiner"

Our Family enjoyed a beautiful, sunny, warm day at the lake. Amazingly there were hardly any boats on the lake...can't get any better than that for a Saturday...well maybe warmer water! So they tell me! And the only thing missing was our Favorite Missionary...

27 Years...

Dinner at one of our favorite places..
Walnut Shrimp is the BEST!

It was such a beautiful evening that we decided to enjoy the outdoors at the GateWay...and did not buy a thing!

A stop at Cold Stone for a yummy cool treat...french vanilla with carmel & cinnamon mixed in and served in a waffle cup.

The final stop before heading home was Red Box...love the $ rentals. Tooth Fairy was the pick of the night. It was actually a cute show.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!
Thanks to a wonderful husband and father. I LOVE YOU!
